Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has a rich history that dates back to its establishment in 1963. Originally incorporated as a private limited company, it later became a public limited company in January 1964, operating under the regulations of the Companies Act 1913, which is now known as the Companies Act 2017. SNGPL is proudly listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and is categorized as a Public Interest Company as per the Third Schedule of the Companies Act, 2017.
During its inception, SNGPL acquired the Sui-Multan System, comprising 217 miles of 16-inch pipelines and 80 miles of 10-inch pipelines, from the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC). Additionally, the Dhulian-Rawalpindi-Wah system, consisting of 82 miles of 6-inch pipelines, was obtained from Attock Oil Company Limited. These acquisitions formed the foundation for SNGPL’s operations.
With the commencement of commercial operations, SNGPL began supplying natural gas to two regions: Multan and Rawalpindi. Initially, the company served a total of 67 consumers, providing an average of 47 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas. This marked the beginning of SNGPL’s journey in catering to the energy needs of its valued customers.
